Funny How People Get Old
as sung by Murray McLauchlan
                                 (Hawkins)

He’s high as a kite
Most every night,
His soul gets left out in the cold,
Like a flower that will never unfold,
Funny how people get old.

His mind turns to string
When he tries to sing
To a lady whose posture is bold
She’s a flower she’d love to unfold.
Funny how people get old,

He’d tell you the truth now,
But I do believe he’s forgotten how
And in his sad smile his story’s plain told,
Just a rose left too long in the cold,
Just a rose that will never unfold,
Funny how people get old.
